Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) is a plant that can be found in medical books from medieval times, such as Matthiolas' Book of Herbs 1626, which was once native to central and western Europe. It's normally spotted on dry rocky or stony soils in wastelands, near buildings, hedgebanks, fields, and roadsides at altitudes of 600 to 2000 meters all over the world. Milk Thistle is more famous now for its Silymarin, an antioxidant thought to be 10X more powerful than vitamin E.
